IT’S getting very tight at the top of the Premier Division with four sides battling for title honours.

New leaders MK Wanderers Reserves trounced Deanshanger Athletic 6-1 to go a point clear of Potterspury, who saw their home game in the Premier Division Trophy second round postponed due to an unfit pitch.

Third-placed Southcott Village, on the same points as Potterspury, went down 5-2 at Grendon Rangers in the Trophy second round, Perna grabbing a hat-trick for Grendon and Hankers netting a brace. Fourth-placed Thornborough Athletic, just a point behind MK Wanderers also, kept up their challenge with a 3-3 draw at Loughton Manor. Kelsaw, Watts and Parker scored for Athletic.

Fifth-placed Brackley Sports, who were without a game, have seven points to make up on the second, third and fourth clubs but have three games in hand.

Yardley Gobion won 2-0 at Silverstone, while Stewkley were 6-1 home winners over Wolverton Town, Howe, Hall and Dunn hitting braces apiece.

In the Intermediate Division, leaders Great Horwood maintained their unbeaten run with a 4-1 home win over AFC Santander. Darren Sirrett (2), McCabe and Dixon did the damage for Horwood.

Second-placed Brackley Sports Reserves, who have played four more games than Horwood, won a seven-goal thriller at JM United 4-3.

Stoke Hammond kept up their challenge in third spot with a 7-2 trouncing of Steeple Claydon away, Brunning and Mundy the Claydon scorers.

Mid-table Wicken Sports lost 7-3 at fifth-placed City Colts, Old firing a hat-trick for Colts.Hanslope were 3-1 home winners over Syresham.

Division One leaders Stoke Hammond Wanderers Reserves were in second round Trophy action against Stewkley Reserves, winning 3-0, thanks to a Homer hat-trick.

Fifth-placed Potterspury Reserves were 2-0 winners at Charlton & District in Division One, Chilvers and Lamb the scorers.

Marsh Gibbon’s Render blasted a treble as his side sunk Syresham Reserves 5-0. Hayward and Turner were also on the scoresheet.

Second-to-bottom Twyford United slipped to a 5-1 home defeat against Deanshanger Athletic Reserves, Davis netting for Twyford. Third-placed Grendon Rangers Reserves hammered Woughton 5-0 away. Second-placed Bow Brickhill Reserves went down 5-3 at home to Southcott Village Reserves.

Fourth-placed Buckingham University’s challenge for honours in Division Two has started to falter as they lost 4-2 at home to second-placed Great Linford Reserves. Third-placed Wicken Sports Reserves edged MK Wanderers A 2-1, Collins and Valentine netting. Silverstone Reserves ran out 5-1 winners at Hanslope Reserves, Holloway netting twice. Basement side Marsh Gibbon Reserves lost 5-1 at Wing Village, while Great Horwood Reserves routed Yardley Reserves 6-0 away.
