Towcestrians Cricket Club 1st XI continued their immaculate start to the season with two further wins in the South Northants Cricket League this week.
Firstly, Tows progressed into the semi-finals of the Divisional Cup courtesy of a 54-run win against Chipping Warden.
Batting first, Tows made 172-7 with Tom Sheppard (60) making the vital contribution while David Roberts (24) and Tim Fernbank (16) also chipped in.
The Chipping Warden reply rarely threatened the total as they bowled out for 118. Adam Booth took 4-20.
Tows then secured their second victory in a week against Chipping Warden to stay top of SNCL Division Four.
Put into bat, the hosts made 200-7 with Sheppard (47) continuing from where he left off in the cup as he and Rob Jones (55) put together a substantial partnership before Steve Edwards (47) and Ed Penn ( 24) added some late runs.
Chipping’s reply got off to a steady start but Nick Hulatt pegged them back with a brilliant spell of seam bowling that saw him take 6-29 as the visitors were all out for 130.
