Two new star attractions have been added to the successful samurai exhibition at the Bucks County Museum in Aylesbury.
Samurai: Warriors of Ancient Japan, a private collection seen together for the first time in public, features armour and weapons from medieval Japan, and is on display until February 4.
The new exhibits are a pair of 15th century samurai swords, called a dai-sho – the badge of a samurai warrior – and a fearsome naginata – a razor-sharp 3ft blade, mounted on a 5ft-long staff.
These weapons were traditionally used by warrior monks or by samurai women defending the home if the men were away at war.
Entrance is free. For further information and opening times visit www.buckscc.gov.uk/museum or call 01296 331441.
