Northampton’s Royal & Derngate is looking for members of the Advertiser & Review community to form a new acting company.
Auditions will take place at the theatre on Tuesday, December 3, and Thursday, December 5.
The new group, Royal & Derngate Community Ensemble, will be given the chance to participate in two months of workshops before appearing on the Royal stage in the opening production of the 2014 Made in Northampton season – a bold new version of one of Britain’s best-loved novels, which will run from February 21 to March 15.
The title of the show will be announced with the rest of the season in December. Royal & Derngate producer John said: “This is a unique opportunity to work with a professional acting company and exceptional creative team. We recognise that it is a big commitment for people to make on a voluntary basis – but I think that enthusiastic and talented local actors will get a huge amount out of the experience.”
The initial workshop auditions will take place at the theatre in groups of 10 for 60 minutes each, with slots at 6.30pm, 7.30pm and 8.30pm.
Anyone over 18 is welcome to audition. To register and get a timed slot to attend, download a registration form from www.royalandderngate.co.uk (on the Made In Northampton page) or pick up a form at the theatre’s box office. For more information contact John Manning on 01604 655784 or email email@example.com.
Those selected from the auditions will be invited to a series of workshops on the evenings of December 10 and 17. These workshops will resume from January 14. Applicants must be available for all performances, and rehearsals, including a significant amount of time during the opening week of the show – week commencing February 17, some of which will be daytime.
