Don’t be a Scrooge, sponsor my show

A BUCKINGHAM man is looking for local companies to sponsor him as he prepares for a one-man production of A Christmas Carol in aid of Parkinson’s UK.

Chris Birch will be performing a stage adaptation of the Dickens classic on December 16 and 17 at Buckingham Community Centre.

The play was adapted for a solo performer by the well-known actor Patrick Stewart, of Star Trek fame, who has given Mr Birch his permission to use the script.

Mr Birch, aged 43, whose father suffers from Parkinson’s disease, said he wanted to raise money to thank the charity that funds research into the condition and provides support to those diagnosed with it, as well as their families.

He said: “With a great deal of competition for the charity pound, I decided to do something a little different and give the donor a good Christmas night out.”

Mr Birch, who used to act in amateur dramatic productions, added: “It’s going to be very, very scary. I’ve not done any acting for over 20 years. I’m going to be mortally terrified.”

And he added: “I’m looking for sponsors as I plan to try and cover all production costs with corporate or personal sponsorship and then have all ticket revenue going direct to Parkinsons UK.”

Sponsorship opportunities range from an advert in the programme to sponsoring the whole production. Contact Mr Birch on 01280 816919 or for details.
