Exciting summer season at theatre

Milton Keynes Theatre has announced an exciting summer season, bringing top West End theatre productions to our doorstep.

Highlights include the musical phenomenon Ghost direct from the West End, due to haunt the stage in September.

Based on the Oscar-winning film of the 1990s, the timeless fantasy tells the story of Sam, trapped as a ghost between this world and the next, as he tries to communicate with his girlfriend Molly in the hope of saving her from his murderer.

It has also been announced that the smash hit West End musical Wicked will fly into town next year.

Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Starlight Express returns to Milton Keynes in April with a brand new3D spectacular production.

And Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Evita returns, in May with Wet Wet Wet frontman Marti Pellow .

In June, the enchanting fusion of music, dance and verse, Cats, returns for two weeks only.

In July there’s fun, frolics and frivolity from the all new 40th anniversary production of Richard O’Brien’s The Rocky Horror Show with Oliver Thornton.

And in July, sell-out rock’n’roll sensation Dreamboats And Petticoats will take you back to the golden days of the ’60s, .

There is plenty to keep drama enthusiasts entertained as the season opens with a duo of comedies from the Theatre Royal Bath.

Alan Ayckbourn’s charmingly English Relatively Speaking stars Felicity Kendal, Jonathan Coy, Kara Tointon and Max Bennett.

Mike Leigh’s classic Abigail’s Party stars Hannah Waterman and Martin Marquez.

In July an epic tale of love and war comes to the stage with Sebastian Faulks’ Birdsong, and you can step back in time to uncover the truth with Agatha Christie’s Go Back for Murder, with a cast to die for!

Shakespeare’s Globe returns with the three plays of Henry VI under their original titles, Harry The Sixth, The Houses Of York and The True Tragedy Of The Duke of York.

Steeped in classical Russian tradition, the Sofia National Ballet presents three masterpieces, Giselle, Don Quixote and Swan Lake.

And The Imperial Ice Stars bring world-class skating to the stage in Sleeping Beauty On Ice.

For kids, everyone’s favourite explorer arrives on a musical adventure as Dora The Explorer Live! hits the stage to search for the city of lost toys.

And following hot on the heels of The Gruffalo, The Gruffalo’s Child arrives – with attitude.
