Winslow Community Cinema offers the ultimate culinary comedy on Friday.

Norah Ephron’s Julie And Julia is based on two true stories. Julia Child introduced 1960s American suburbia to French cuisine with her idiosyncratic TV shows and the definitive book, Mastering The Art Of French Cooking.

Forty years later, in post-9/11 New York, Julie Powell dealt with people whose lives had been damaged by the attack on the World Trade Center.

Fed up with her job handling complaints from victims, the amateur chef set herself the challenge of cooking all of the 500 recipes in Child’s cookbook in her poky flat, in just one year.

Julie And Julia will be screened at 7.30pm at the Winslow Centre.Admission £2 for members, £4.50 for non-members.
