St James Church flower festival, anniversaries theme, August 24 to 26, 10am to 5.30pm, flowers, crafts, photographs, food all day, Songs of Praise at 6pm on August 25, art exhibition by Towcester and District Art Society, original art works and greeting cards for sale, visit www.towcesterart.com.

Blues in the Garden, in aid of Roka, Stratton Arms, 2pm to 6pm, music from Sidewinder and food


Barbecue in aid of the Old Gaol, 1pm, 19 Woodlands Crescent. Tickets from the Museum Shop at the gaol, £5 for burgers, hot dogs, dessert and wine. Please pre-buy tickets if possible. 01280 823020.

Children’s activities at the Old Gaol, 1.30pm to 3.30pm, teddy bears’ picnic. Bring along your favourite teddy bear for fun and tea, admission £1.50 per child if a friend/trust member, £3 if not. No unaccompanied children. A reminder that the pots children made at a previous session are ready for collection from the museum shop. 01280 823020.


10am – 3pm,Play Around The Parishes. Childrens activities for ages 1-11yrs. Free event, Chandos Park. If it is wet then the event will be held in the hall at Grenville Combined School.

Open Studios Northants, work from local artists on display at Towcester Museum, September 6 to 8.


September 8, car boot sale, Souldern playing field in aid of village hall. Boots £7 per pitch, free parking, hall open for hotdogs, bacon butties, teas and homemade cakes from 8am to 1pm. Donations to Katharine House Hospice, call 01869 345874. Guide dogs only.
