Coffee morning in aid of Willen Hospice, 10am until noon at the Old Gaol, cakes from Buckingham WI, to fundraise for local GP, Siân Whyte’s attempt to complete the upcoming Isle of Wight Challenge - a 106km non-stop trek around the island.


Family open days at Towcester Museum, from August 2, live history sessions between 11am and 2pm, a visit from characters from Towcester’s Roman past, handle Roman artefacts and replicas, free admission for children when accompanied by an adult.

Horticultural Society show, August 9, in the village hall, show opens at 2pm, vegetables, flower growing and arranging, cookery and handicrafts.


August 13, Old Gaol talk at the museum by Dr Susan Fern on The Man Who Killed Richard III, who dealt the final blow at the Battle of Bosworth in 1485. Tickets £5, from museum shop, 01280 823020.


Play Around The Parishes, Chandos Park, 10am to 3pm, August 14 and 27, play, sports and art activities for children ages one to 11. If raining the event will be in the hall at Grenville School. More information, Buckingham Town Council on 01280 816426.


An evening of First World War Poetry with Peter Wyton, followed by a wine reception, in aid of the Red Cross, August 15, 8pm, at St Mary Magdalene Church, tickets £5 in advance or £6 on the door, to reserve tickets email bookmarksfest@gmail.com.
