Thames Valley Police is treating this as an isolated incident

A rape investigation has been launched in Aylesbury after a woman was discovered in a ‘distressed state’ in the town centre.

Between 1.15am and 1.30am on Sunday morning (2 October), a woman was taken to hospital by the triple roundabouts of Buckingham Street, Bicester Road and Oxford Road.

Witnesses found the woman, who is in her 20s, in what has been described as a ‘distressed state’.

She has since been discharged from hospital, but has reported being raped to the authorities.

Today (6 October), Thames Valley Police announced it was launching investigation into the alleged rape and is calling on witnesses to come forward.

Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Simon Tyas, said: “This is a concerning incident, in which a woman has reported being raped in the early hours of Sunday morning.

“We are aware that members of the public were in the area and may be able to assist us with this investigation as they may have vital information which can help us.

“I would appeal to anybody who was in the vicinity of the triple roundabouts during this time period to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police by calling 101 or making a report online, quoting reference number 43220441378.

“It is understandable that incidents such as this cause concern in the local community, but I would like to reassure the public that we are investigating this as a priority, including reviewing CCTV footage and making local enquiries.

“I would ask anybody who may have been driving in the area at around the time of the incident to please check your dash-cam and contact the force if it has captured anything that may help this investigation.

“We are treating this as an isolated incident and there have not been any reports of a similar nature before or after this incident.

“However, there will be a continued presence of police in the area while our investigations continue, and the victim is being supported by specially trained officers.
