We may be in the midst of a global pandemic lockdown, but for our local Aylesbury firefighters it is still very much business as usual.

Not quite the classic cat stuck up a tree, but firefighters were called to assist with a daring animal rescue in Viridan Square, Aylesbury on Easter Sunday.

The team from Bucks Fire and Rescue Service were called after an unlucky pigeon got stuck between a fourth floor balcony and a glass barrier.

The rescue followed a call to the fire service from the RSPCA who were already on the scene.

A spokesperson from Bucks Fire and Rescue Service said: "Firefighters used a 13.5-metre ladder to rescue a pigeon which was trapped between a fourth-floor balcony and a glass barrier."
