Buckingham residents are invited to enjoy some summer fun and free entertainment at Celebrate Buckingham Day on Saturday, June 17.

Now in its third year, Celebrate Buckingham Day will run from 11am to 3pm in the Paddock in Bourton Park and showcase more than 25 local voluntary, community and not-for-profit organisations.

Buckingham Ukulele Group and Crazy Heart will be performing songs from various genres throughout the day, whilst children can enjoy a bouncy castle, bungee run and giant Jenga, all for free, provided by local inflatable hire company Bouncy Macs. Kids can also pay a visit to face painter Pyxis Beauty Creative Make Up by Becki Pontefract to pick a cool design.

A range of vendors will be there for those who want to catch a bite to eat or drink, with savory options including traditional German sausages from Sizzlers Street Food, Asian-inspired rice pots and noodles from We Will Wok You and Good Times Café with their locally loved grilled cheese sandwiches and gourmet bakes.

For those wanting to indulge a sweet tooth, Say Doughnuts will be offering various flavours of doughnut as well as tea and coffee, and Jay’s Ices will be selling ice cream. Roman Way Brewery will also be in attendance selling cask ale, cider, gin and soft drinks.

Each stall taking part in the event will be offering an activity to try, with the return this year of firm favourites maggot racing and Whack the Rat, alongside treasure hunts, noughts and crosses, quoits and other traditional games.

Town councillor Robin Stuchbury said: “Buckingham Town Centre and Events Committee see Celebrate Buckingham Day as one of those special occasions within Buckingham’s events calendar.

"It’s an opportunity to see the achievements and activities of valued local organisations who contribute and support the community in many ways, enriching people’s lives greatly.

"It also gives an opportunity to focus on Buckingham’s achievements while promoting what is best within our town, so I hope you’ll take the opportunity of being part of this event and we look forward to seeing you.”
